Congratulations to Charlotte Mace, executive director of our partner Biobased Maine and sustainable economy program director at the Strategy Center, for winning the Maine Development Foundation’s 2018 Champion for Economic Development for Innovation award!

With this award, the Maine Development Foundation recognized Charlotte’s work and leadership at Biobased Maine in bringing the emerging bioeconomy to Maine, helping to revitalize rural communities with high-paying jobs that help keep families healthy.

“Beyond the very compelling environmental and business cases for biobased manufacturing, there’s the fact that it will also ensure that the people of Maine have good jobs to support healthy families and thriving communities,” said Charlotte in her remarks at the awards ceremony on October 25th.

“At Biobased Maine, we work to create new value streams through commercial-scale technologies that convert sustainably-harvested forest residuals into high-value, climate-friendly products the world is strongly demanding,” added Charlotte in a statement. “We work with industry, government, the University of Maine, and local communities to ensure that these high-paying jobs are brought to rural Maine.”

“I’m honored to join the ranks of the Maine Development Foundation’s impressive awardees, and humbled to be recognized by an organization that has done so much for Maine communities and businesses over the past 40 years,” Charlotte said.

We’re proud to work with Biobased Maine to advance the sustainable manufacturing of climate-friendly products here in Maine, and proud to see Charlotte’s incredible leadership recognized by the Maine Development Foundation.
